1. Introduction
At Bambaverse, the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child are non-negotiable. As Africa’s first Createch learning universe for children aged 7–13, we are committed to building joyful, safe spaces for children; online, offline, and everywhere in between. We believe that all children have the right to be protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the Kenya Children Act.
This policy outlines the principles, roles, responsibilities, and procedures in place to protect all children who interact with Bambaverse content, staff, systems, partners, or platforms.

3. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to:
All Bambaverse team members (staff, contractors, creatives, volunteers)
Partner organizations and educational institutions using Bambaverse tools or materials
Any platform, event, or physical kit designed, delivered, or supported by Bambaverse
All personnel must read, sign, and adhere to this policy before engaging with Bambaverse.
4. Our Safeguarding Commitments
A. Awareness
We commit to:
Training all personnel on safeguarding roles, risks, and response
Ensuring everyone knows who the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) is and how to contact them
Including safeguarding terms in all partner agreements and institutional onboarding
Displaying clear child-friendly reporting channels on all platforms
B. Prevention
We commit to:
Conducting background checks and safeguarding screenings during recruitment
Embedding content moderation and child-safety filters across platforms
Only allowing child-facing tools (e.g. AI bots, uploads, quizzes) in sandboxed and moderated environments
Supporting institutions to develop or strengthen their safeguarding policies if needed
C. Reporting
We commit to:
Providing clear, confidential reporting procedures for children, staff, and guardians
Requiring all concerns to be reported to the DSO within 24 hours
Partners must notify Bambaverse of any incident within 3 days of discovery
Anonymous or third-party reports will also be taken seriously

D. Response
We commit to:
Prioritizing the best interests of the child
Acting swiftly and supportively when concerns are raised
Respecting confidentiality and sharing information on a need-to-know basis only
Not retaliating or penalizing whistleblowers who report concerns in good faith
E. Investigation
If the concern involves Bambaverse personnel, an internal Child Protection Investigation Committee will be formed
Suspected staff may be suspended during investigation
If the concern involves a partner, Bambaverse will support investigations and may escalate to authorities
Non-compliance with this policy may lead to termination of contract or partnership
5. Platform and Content Requirements
All Bambaverse products and services must:
Be designed with child safety in mind from day one
Include consent mechanisms and reporting tools
Prohibit unmoderated chats, live interactions, or sharing of personal details
Never use children’s data to train AI or for third-party targeting
Have role-based content access and visibility (e.g. guardian dashboards)
6. Media & Communication
We commit to:
Obtaining informed consent before collecting or publishing any child’s image, video, or audio
Ensuring children are represented respectfully and non-exploitatively
Never publishing surnames, school names, or precise location information
Storing all media securely and limiting access
Investigating any reports of inappropriate imagery or misuse
7. Working With Partners
Partners must:
Provide or adopt a safeguarding policy approved by Bambaverse
Assign a local safeguarding lead
Report all concerns or disclosures to Bambaverse within 3 days
Cooperate fully with any follow-up or investigation
Bambaverse reserves the right to suspend services and conduct audits if concerns arise. Failure to uphold safeguarding standards may result in termination of partnership.
8. Monitoring & Review
We will:
Conduct internal annual safeguarding audits
Evaluate the effectiveness of this policy regularly
Review this policy every two years, or earlier if legislation or organizational changes require it
Require partners to include child protection updates in quarterly reports

Never be alone with a child in a private, unobserved space
Report all safeguarding concerns immediately
